Publishing Manager

Our Studio is currently looking for a Publishing Manager for overseeing the development, marketing, and distribution of games. This role will manage the end-to-end publishing process, including strategy formulation, partnership development, market analysis, game optimization, and launch execution. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the gaming industry, particularly in PC & Console game markets, and possess a proven track record of successfully launching and managing games across multiple platforms and genres.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the game development strategy and work closely with key game developers to design high-potential game concepts and guide them through the prototyping and development stages.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to align on game concepts, mechanics, and monetization strategies, ensuring all games meet market demand and player expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with partner studios to foster creativity, innovation, and commitment to high-quality game production.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of game concepts, prototypes, and progress to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Stay abreast of current trends and market dynamics within the game sector.
  • Conduct in-depth market research, competition benchmarks, and consumer studies to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams (marketing, design, art, QA, etc.) to ensure smooth and successful game launches.
  • Implement game changes and optimizations to enhance key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue, player engagement, play time.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies, including brand identity creation, marketing campaigns, and promotional activities.
  • Manage marketing deliverables, including videos, web assets, store descriptions, visuals, and PR tools, ensuring all assets are of high quality and aligned with brand objectives.
  • Work with the community manager and PR team to build and execute a multi-channel community strategy that strengthens the brand and engages players.
  • Oversee the budgeting process for marketing activities.
  • Manage financial performance and optimise the use of resources to achieve maximum profitability and ROI.
  • Negotiate and manage rights and licensing agreements, ensuring compliance with copyright laws and company policies.
  • Coordinate with licensors and stakeholders to secure approvals for game content, promotional materials, and distribution channels.
  • Lead the publishing program by overseeing schedules, budgeting, and production for multiple game titles and formats (mobile, PC, console, etc.). ensuring all projects are completed within allocated budgets.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to expand and diversify the company’s publishing portfolio, identifying new market opportunities, target audiences, and distribution channels.
  • Regularly report on game performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives to senior management and investors.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in the gaming industry, with at least 3 years in a publishing or product management role.
  • 3+ years of people management experience, with a proven ability to build and lead high-performing cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a game portfolio, including the successful launch and ongoing optimization of games across multiple platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of gaming trends, particularly within the PC & Console markets.
  • Proven track record of building and extending publishing units across multiple brands or franchises.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English, with proficiency in Dutch or  French considered a plus.
  • Ability to manage large budgets effectively, with experience overseeing revenue-generating game portfolios.
  • Experience in brand management, go-to-market strategies, and live-service activities roadmap creation.
  • Familiarity with copyright and licensing laws, including experience in negotiating complex deals.
